Archaeology

The archaeology collection at the University of Calgary supports the teaching and research needs of the B.A. and M.A.and PhD programs at the University of Calgary. It also supports research requirements from many related disciplines.

Finding Articles

While a search using the search box on the library home page will retrieve a number of articles, more articles will be found using specialized databases such as the following:

Canadian Reference Centre  -  great source for articles on Canadian archaeological sites

Anthropology Plus -  key database for locating archaeology journal articles

Bibliography of Native North Americans -  good source for locating articles on aboriginal culture and history

Gale World History in Context - primary and secondary sources, many are fulltext

JSTOR - full text database of core academic journals - includes articles such as  one "Driving Bison and Blackfoot Science"

Google Scholar  - make sure you are using this link or other links off library website so that you will be linked to all of the fulltext that the U of C subscribes to

Background Information

Subject Encyclopedias and Dictionaries are great places to get background information on your topic.
