Chemical and Petroleum Engineering

A guide to finding books, articles, and technical information for your coursework in chemical and petroleum engineering.

E-Books

The best way to find e-books is by searching our catalogue, but here are some links to specific e-book collections with chemical and petroleum engineering content:

Knovel Library - A library of engineering, chemistry and science books. Also offers a data search tool that lets you look up the properties of materials.

Kirk Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology
Presents a wide scope of articles on chemical substances—including their properties, manufacturing, and uses. It also focuses on industrial processes and unit operations in chemical engineering, as well as covering fundamentals and scientific subjects related to the field.

Find Books

Click here to search for print and e-books. You can enter an author, an exact title, or subject keywords (example: oil sands enhanced recovery). E-books will show up as links you can access. In many cases you can download all or part of the book, but some publishers place restrictions on this.

Information on where a print book is located can be found in the record for that book. If a print book is signed out, you'll see something like this:

If you want that book next, you can place a hold. Just click the title link to go into the full record, then look for the "place hold" button. If a grad student or faculty member has borrowed the book, the due date may not be for months, but if you place a hold, they will receive a notice asking them to return the book within two weeks.

Handy tip: You can specify where you want to pick up your holds. Gallagher Library is closest to Engineering.
