Arctic Institute of North America Collection

The Arctic Institute of North America (AINA) Collection is housed at the University of Calgary in the basement of the Gallagher Library (ES 180).  Responsibility for the administration of this collection was transferred to the University of Calgary Library from the Arctic Institute of North America on April 1, 1979.  Material in the Arctic Institute of North America Colllection is subject to the same terms of use and policies as material in the University of Calgary Library.

The older portions of the collection contain material on all aspects of the Canadian North with additional material on northern Europe, Russia, Alaska, Greenland and Antarctica.  New material being added focuses primarily, but by no means exclusively, on the Canadian North, with emphasis on the scientific, technology, and social aspects of this area and its people.

There are a variety of materials in the Arctic Institute of North America Collection, including books, newspapers, journals, government reports, rare books, and microforms.  To locate material in this collection you need to use both the Library Catalogue (for material acquired and processed after March 31, 1978) and the Card Catalogue (for material acquired and processed prior to March 31, 1978).  The Card Catalogue is located adjacent to the collection in the basement of the Gallagher Library (ES 180).
