Peer Roamers create an academically-focused community of student support within various study spaces in the Taylor Family Digital Library.

HIGHLIGHT: 3D Printer - Digital Media Commons

From simple doodads to intricate prototypes, the 3D printer in the Digital Media Commons of the Taylor Family Digital Library provides hands-on learning of product evolution, from the design stage right through to the creation of physical objects. Members of the campus community may have objects printed on the Makerbot Replicator II. It’s a consumer-level machine with impressive precision, printing detailed objects with resolution down to one-tenth of a millimetre, approximately the width of a strand of hair.

HIGHLIGHT: George Stanley Collection and the history of the Canadian flag

Tucked away in Archives and Special Collections at the University of Calgary is a fascinating account of the story behind the Canadian flag, which turned 50 years old in February 2015. The Dr. George F. G. Stanley Collection includes both the archive and personal library of the late eminent historian who proposed the design of the Canadian flag.
