Limits on the number of Readings on Paper Reserves - There is a limit of 15 titles on reserve for anyone class.
- There is a maximum of five copies of each title.
- Photocopies of multiple readings submitted in a binder count as one title.
- A maximum of five new titles will be ordered by the Library for Reserve per class.
Photocopies of Journal Articles and Book Chapters - All photocopies of copyrighted material placed on reserve, will be destroyed at the end of the Semester or Session. AUCC Fair Dealing Policy 16 (g).
- All photocopies of copyrighted material placed on reserve need to be supplemental as opposed to required readings. AUCC Fair Dealing Policy 16 (b).
- The course instructor will need to sign a form indicating that the supplemental readings on reserve constitute no more than 25% of the required readings for the course. For example if you require your students to purchase a 1,200 page textbook for your course and you require your students to read 800 pages of the textbook, than you can place 200 pages (25%) of supplemental readings photocopied from copyrighted material. AUCC Fair Dealing Policy 16 (b).
- Single articles need to be submitted in manila folders or duotangs.
- Multiple articles must be submitted in a binder that is indexed and divided.
1. Fill out the personal copies form for both photocopies of articles and chapters and personal copies of books.
2. You can place up to five copies of a book on reserve.
3. For photocopies of copyrighted material, you can place one copy for every thirty students up to three copies. For example if your class has 27 students, you can place one copy on reserve. If your class has 31 students, you can place two copies on reserve. If your class has 61 students you can place three copies on reserve.
4. Photocopied material that has an Access Copyright Stamp will not be accepted for reserve readings.
Personal (Instructor Owned) Books
1. Fill out the personal copies form for both books and photocopies of articles and chapters.
2. Submit your Reserve Items in person or via campus mail to the appropriate Library’s Reserve Contact.
