The Visualization Studio' display wall is made up of 5x3 arrangement of 15 projectors. Each Christie Digital Entero RPMWU LED projector provides a resolution of 1920x200 pixels on the back of a 46-inch DNP Cross Prism screen. These screens provide crisp images and almost invisible seams of less than 2 millimetres between projectors. Altogether the wall measures 4.88 metres by 1.85 metres (195 inches by 73 inches) and provides a resolution of 9600x3600 pixels.
This display is supported by a Boxx 8950 server that features two Intel Xeon E5-2687 3.1 GHz processors providing ample processing power and 64GB of DDR2 RAM. This machine runs the Windows 7 operating system allowing use of familiar software in this exciting environment. Ten video inputs (five DVI and five VGA) are provided to allow users to bring their own computers and view their display output on the wall.
USB ports are available in the Visualization Studio for accessing data on portable drives. Larger datasets can be accessed through the campus's high-speed network connections.
The studio features high-quality 7.1 Dolby surround sound for working with data that features accompanying audio. External audio sources may be connected by RCA stereo or SPDIF digital audio connectors.
The studio also features two other useful pieces of hardware. A 55-inch SMART multi-touch table provides an alternative interface for visualization tasks. The table features 1920 X 1080 resolution powered by an Intel i7 processor and 8 GB of RAM. Also present is a 27" touch console PC that provides a private display useful when presenting.
