Key Biochemistry Databases
The folowing databases allow you to search and access information about Proteins, Genes and Nucleotides.
Biological Information Resource
This site provides access to many free biological sequence databases and software programs allowing users to access, manipulate and comprehend the massive amounts of information about molecular sequences, structures and functions. Developed by the Univ. of Washington, this site links out to many other molecular biology and genetics links.
DDBJ is the sole DNA data bank in Japan, which is officially certified to collect DNA sequences from researchers.
The EMBL (European Bioinformatics Institute) is one of the main sources for DNA and RNA sequences submitted directly from individual researchers, genome sequencing projects and patent applications.
ENTREZ-The Life Science Search Engine
This multiple database search engine from the NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information) enables you to search and access two dozen databases and related products available via the Entrez system. You can find information on a topic, including a gene, disease, or other biomedical topic, by searching all 24 databases at once rather than each individually.
ExPASy Molecular Biology Server
The ExPASy (Expert Protein Analysis System) proteomics server of the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB). This server is dedicated to the analysis of protein sequences and structures as well as 2-D PAGE. Provides access to a large number databases, tools and software packages as well as links to many molecular biology resources and servers.
Human Protein Atlas
"with the aim to map all the human proteins in cells, tissues and organs"
