This guide will assist researchers in locating information resources as they relate to the north.
University of Calgary MADGIC Desk
MADGIC (Maps, Academic Data, Geographic Information Centre) provides access to maps, airphotos, GIS data and software. Check their pages for more information.
There is a collection of arctic air photos in MADGIC that do not have a flight line index. For access, please contact Claudette Cloutier at 403-220-3447 or email@example.com.
Please note: For maps, air photos and GIS data, coverage of the areas north of 60° is sporadic. You will need to speak with staff at MADGIC to determine if they have the resources to meet your needs.
The following tools will help you locate maps for your area of interest.
- To find a map in the library use the Library Catalogue search box.
If you would like a map of a specific area, add (map$ or cartograph$) to your keyword search.
- MIRAGE is the Map Image Rendering Databsae for Geoscience. It is a digital image library of Geological Survey of Canada maps.
The GSC has published thousands of maps since the mid-1800's.
More than 10,000 of these maps have been scanned and are available. If you find a map in MIRAGE that is not available digitally, check the Library Catalogue for our holdings.
