What are they?

Bonds are issued by governments and corporations as a means of raising money for particular purposes,
projects etc. Investors loan money to the government or the corporation for a fixed time period (maturity)
and at a fixed interest rate. The bond issuer pays the investor interest and repays the original investment
in full on the maturity date.
