Anthropology

Social and cultural anthropology is the comparative study of human society and culture.  Primatology is a -comparative study of human and non-human primate evolution, ecology, and behaviour.

Key Skills & Knowledge

Critical thinking - Analyze the root causes of social problems and work towards solutions with people from a wide variety of backgrounds; Interpret/evaluate events, information and ideas representing the past

Research methods - Social research, behavioral and biological research; Qualitative interviewing and fieldwork, as well as quantitative methods; Ethnographic study; Behavioral observation and analysis; Data and artifact analysis

Interdisciplinary scientific perspective - Aptitude for scientific problem solving; Using statistics and computer science to analyze data; Basic understanding of human evolution & genetics

Intercultural - Multicultural awareness and sensitivity; Theoretical approaches and practical methods for enhancing cross-cultural understanding; Knowledge of a variety of ethnic groups, as well as many cultures in other countries

Oral and written communication - Gather & disseminate information; Compiling observations and data into comprehensive reports

Analytical skills - Environmental and social impact assessing; Knowledge about biological, ecological, and cultural factors that influence human behaviour
