Microforms

This guide will help you access the microform collections including microfilm, microfiche and microcard.

How to Access

For a generic microform request, submit using the form below.

If you know the title of the item you are trying to access, follow these 4 steps:


Step 1

Search for the title in the library search box or in the library catalogue.


Step 2

Locate the microfilm, microfiche, or microcard resource and click to connect to item record in catalogue.


Step 3

Make sure you are signed in. Click "Request" to open a form specifying which volume/issue/date range to retrieve, entering:

  • Volume/Issue/Date
  • Notes
  • Barcode (from the back of your Unicard)
  • Name (required)
  • Email address (required)

You will be contacted for further information or when your resource is ready for pickup.

If you don't know the title of the item and are looking to search microforms more generally, follow these 4 steps:


Step 1

Search for your topic in the library search box (e.g. alberta news). 

Search example: alberta news


Step 2

In the library catalogue results page, on the left hand side under Filter my results, scroll down to Location and open the dropdown menu, selecting Microfilm, Microfiche, and/or Microcard (if available):


Step 3

Once you find a resource you are interested in retrieving, make sure you are logged in and click "Request" to choose a issue or volume to be delivered to the TFDL for pickup:

Step 4

Complete "Request an Item" form specifying which volume/issue/date range to retrieve, entering:

  • Volume/Issue/Date
  • Notes
  • Barcode (from the back or your Unicard)
  • Name (required)
  • Email address (required)

You will be contacted for further information or when your resource is ready for pickup.

Is it available digitally?

Check with your Subject Librarian to inquire if digital copies of the information may be available.
