Digital Sculpting for Art, Design and 3D Printing
This guide offers supplemental information offered in Freehand Digital Sculpting Workshop at DMC
Why Digital Sculpting?
It is a type of polygonal modeling of objects, based on representing or approximating their surfaces using polygons.
A METHOD TO CREATE AND DETAIL MODELS
With digital sculpting tools and techniques, you can build and modify 3D virtual objects free of physical material
You can create scalable levels of detail by pushing and pulling on the interconnected mesh topology
You can save, alter, morph and pose models
Where is it used?
Organic creation of irregular surfaces and curves for CG, industrial design, art, and rapid prototyping such as 3D printing
High detail creation for photorealistic, hyperrealistic and stylized results vs. hard surface modeling
