Alberta Métis

Alberta is the only province in Canada with a recognized Métis land base and Métis governments. The 8 Alberta Métis Settlements and governments were established in 1990 by a legislation package, which includes the Metis Settlements Act (MSA), the Metis Settlements Land Protection Act, Metis Settlements Accord Implementation Act, and the Constitution of Alberta Amendment Act, 1990
