Do you worry about how much K-12 students rely on internet searches for their information? Do you question the credibility of the sources you find from internet searches? How will you help K-12 students navigate the information landscape?

In this interactive session we will:

  • learn about the SIFT evaluation method (from Mike Caulfield)
  • try the method with some example websites r
  • eflect on the value of this method in your academic work and your upcoming teaching practice

EdTech for your Classroom - July 14, 2021

How do you find the latest EdTech to use in your classroom? How do you decide if it is the right tool for learning and assessment? Whether you are an EdTech novice or an expert, let's start the conversation about using tech to its potential in your classrooms.

  • share your classroom experiences and questions about learning or teaching with EdTech (eg. creating digital learning artifacts, LMS, coding and robotics)
  • discover ways to find out more about K-12 EdTech including library lists that highlight EdTech resources (kits, books, links)
  • join a discussion about what criteria you may consider when choosing the right EdTech

Confidently use APA 7 to credit the sources you use for your EDUC projects, papers, and portfolio! Join Doucette Library of Teaching Resources librarian, Kathy Wise, to dispel the mystery around APA7.

  • find the place to get answers about citations you aren't sure about
  • work on examples of how to cite items like curriculum documents (ie. the Alberta Program of Studies), manipulatives, games, podcasts, lesson plans, and images
