Open Educational Resources (OERs)

This guide exists to support the OER pilot program at the University of Calgary.

Training Overview

Open Educational Resources (OERs) are a critical element of post-secondary teaching and learning. UCalgary instructors are encouraged to consider adopting OERs and the Taylor Institute provides funding for the creation of OERs through their ‘Development and Innovation’ grants. Libraries and Cultural Resources plays an important role in supporting these resources on campus.

These videos cover three important components: finding and evaluating OERs; understanding the copyright and licensing issues involved in OERs, and sharing and hosting options for OERs to maximize their discoverability and long term preservation.

This handout is meant to accompany the videos.
