Dimensions Database
A multidisciplinary database. Features a useful open access filter that allows you to only retrieve freely accessible content.
The Lens
A freely accessible database containing both publications and patent information.

Google Scholar
A large multi disciplinary database that will often contain links to openly accessible versions of items. Try clicking on the "versions" tab or adding a "filetype:pdf" filter to your search.

A subset of Google that only indexes academic journals. Pros: searching is very easy - just like for regular Google. Covers journals in many disciplines. Cons: Limited functionality for filtering results. May include some journals of dubious quality.
