Information Commons

The Information Commons provides one-stop service for library research and technical assistance. Service is jointly provided by the University Library and Information Technologies. During Fall and Winter terms, the commons is open 24 hours a day Sunday morning to Friday evening and all day Saturday ( 10 am - 6 pm). For specific hours during other times of the year, please visit the hours page.

Use any of the 230 PC's to conduct, create, and print your research and assignments. Staff will assist you with research and using the computers. Use the collaborative workrooms, scanners and special media as well.

The Information Commons is located to the right of the escalator on the 2nd Floor of the MacKimmie Library .

The 2008 Scotiabank Giller Prize Winner Announced November 11, 2008: The Giller Prize was founded in 1994 by Jack Rabinovitch in honour of his late wife, literary journalist Doris Giller, who passed away from cancer the year before. The award recognized excellence in Canadian fiction – long format or short stories – and endowed a cash prize annually of $25,000.00, the largest purse for literature in the country.

The Man Booker Prize for Fiction: This prize promotes the finest in fiction by rewarding the very best book of the year. This year the Man Booker Prize celebrates its 40th anniversary and there will be major celebrations, as well as the announcement of The Best of The Booker. Attached is the short list compiled by the 2008 judges; however, the 2008 winner has also been chosen: The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga.
