Digital Collections Conditions of Use and Copyright

Current Usage Policies

Every required and appropriate effort has been made to acquire copyright clearances for the material in the digital collections.

Digital files on our sites are copyright protected by the original owners and made available with appropriate permissions.

Patrons may not download, reproduce, alter or transmit files/images without written permission of copyright holders.

Works in the public domain (70 years after the end of the year of the death of the creator) are no longer subject to copyright.  However, it is not in the best interest of patrons to download and repurpose files as they are being updated continuously.

These sites and files/images may not be used for commercial purposes but may be used under the fair dealing or educational exemptions outlined in the Canadian Copyright Act.

Exceptions for Educational Institutions

The contents of our websites are based on documents created by others not always affiliated with the University of Calgary.  As such, the accuracy, veracity, or completeness of these materials are not known to or verified by us.  The University of Calgary is not responsible for any loss or damage arising out of the use of the information or materials linked to or found on these sites.
