As well as shedding light on the history of childhood and family life during this period, these titles provide alternative perspectives in the study of 20th-century advertising/marketing, popular culture, society, education, media, and print culture.Included are major publications from the US and the UK. The inclusion of Sesame Street Magazine enables researchers to explore the methods and theories that, for half a century, underpinned this title's efforts to promote early childhood learning and development, as well as its response to changing social contexts in its representation of different cultures and social identities. Look and Learn (1962-1982), renowned for its high-quality illustrations, discloses the use of different artistic styles and techniques for educational purposes, while demonstrating how accounts of historical events were tailored for consumption by children and reflected prevailing ideologies and interpretations of history. The Boy's Own Paper (1879-1963) permits an analysis of the evolution - from the Victorian era to modern times - of childhood and youth culture, ideas about masculinity and sex roles, visual culture, and attitudes to colonialism and empire.These publications are digitized by default from the first issue.
