CR – Community Relations
This block covers activities relating to the development of effective relations between the University and its stakeholders, both internal and external, and to the expansion and development of private financial support for the University. These include Senate activities, alumni relations, convocations, and special events designed to promote the University.
Activity:
To document community relations matters not shown elsewhere in this block. Material of a specific nature should be placed on the appropriate subject file.

To document the creation, selecting, editing and publishing of scholarly works and the marketing of published materials.
Activity:
To document the provision of events, programs and services that foster alumni connections to the University; and to encourage alumni support. Also to document the provision of awards for distinguished alumni.

To document the development of awards including student scholarships and bursaries.

Activity:
To document activities designed to promote effective communications and to respond to inquiries both from within the internal University community and with stakeholders; also to document liaison activities with external media including the preparation of news releases.
Records may include correspondence, speeches and presentations, news releases, letters of inquiry and appreciation, internal department or faculty newsletters, and related documentation.

To document activities that increase community involvement with and awareness of the University’s programs and activities, and that strengthen relationships with stakeholders.
Also to document the planning of promotional events.
May include outreach activities such as campus fairs, tours and camps, anniversary celebrations and open houses.

Activity:
To document the organization and coordination of regular and special convocations, and of special occasions including installation ceremonies, and building openings. Also to document the planning of social functions involving distinguished visitors or other dignitaries and the provision of advice on matters of protocol and etiquette.

To document the ongoing recognition of donors and their contributions to the University.

Activity:
To document the development and administration of special lectures and lecture series sponsored by the University including visiting scholars. Records may include planning documents, correspondence, invitations and travel itineraries.

Activity:
To document activities that promote recognition and awareness of the university’s name, image and programs. Records may include corresopndence on the University’s logo, coat of arms and trademarks, marketing plans and strategies, and advertising campaigns.
Activity:
To document the activities of the Senate and its committees including actions that enhance the University’s position in and usefulness to the community. Also includes the selection of candidates for honorary degrees and the Order of the University of Calgary. Records may include agendas, minutes, reports, background information, meeting notes, related documentation and correspondence.
