Open Access

Open Access (OA) is the free, immediate, online availability of research publications coupled with the rights to use these materials with little or no restrictions in a digital environment. Why Open Access?

  1. Academic authors can disseminate the results of their research more widely and increase the impact of their work.
  2. Academic authors retain more control over their works, instead of signing all or most rights away to commercial publishers.
  3. Results of taxpayer-funded research are more accessible to everyone.
  4. An alternative to subscription-based scholarly journals, which have increased in price annually beyond the rate of inflation.
