The Library subscribes to databases that index articles, e-books, images, videos, newspapers, and more.

Often a database for a specific discipline can give more focused results than Google, as well as linking to our subscribed resources.

Journals

The University subscribes to thousands of online journals. Many of these are not free, but University of Calgary students, faculty, and staff have access to our paid subscriptions.

You can search for journals by title, ISSN, or browse them by subject category.

Archives and Special Collections

Archives and Special Collections (ASC) provides access to archival records that include rare book holdings, significant literary, historical, musical and cultural archives, collections of popular and science fiction, rare works on the Arctic, the largest collection of Canadian architectural drawings and records in the country, and the corporate records of the University of Calgary.

The Military Museums Library and Archives

The Military Museums Library and Archives (TMMLA) is managed through the University of Calgary through a partnership established in 2000. The library has over 20,000 books and periodicals on Canadian and general military subjects.

Nickle Galleries

The Nickle Galleries is a creative hub at the heart of the University of Calgary campus. It strives to be a leader and active participant in the cultural life of Calgary and Western Canada. Since 1979 the Nickle has featured over 739 exhibitions, published over 500 exhibition catalogues, and welcomed close to 1,000,000 visitors.

Founders’ Gallery

The Founders’ Gallery at The Military Museums in Calgary, was initially formed as a public exhibition space with the goal of contributing to Canadians understanding of their military experience by displaying historic and contemporary works of art and related artifacts. Founders’ works closely with departments and faculties at the University of Calgary, other galleries within The Military Museums, and the community in general, to promote discourse, learning, research, and discovery.

Spatial and Numeric Data Services

Spatial and Numeric Data Services (SANDS) Provides access to cartographic materials, data and statistics, GIS and spatial data, maps, air photos, hardware, and software. The SANDS team can assist with finding resources both within and outside the collection.
